| Artist's Statement: Memories and messages, with some gentle spooling, form the background for my acrylic/collage paintings. I perceive every day reality as a tapestry made up of visual fragments and impressions which I weave into whole images. These personal narratives are quite varied in subject matter and like life itself, there are several perceptual layers to be discovered by the viewer. About the artist: Faigee Niebow has a diverse artistic background. She is a scholar (degrees in Interior Design, Fine Arts and Education), college professor, interior designer, craftsman and visual artist. Faigee who was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba moved to Calgar,y Alberta and has lived at various times in her life in Paris, Rome, Vancouver, Arizona. She resided for a few years recently in Oroville Washington but has recently returned to the warmer climates of Tucson, AZ. She has developed a unique style of painting which incorporates acrylic paint and collage elements that are blended to such a degree that it is not self-evident where one leaves off and the other begins. There are some subliminal collage factors that are part of the symbolic messaging which she enjoys doing. Favorite subjects have to do with people in every-day situations served up with colour and humour. Retiring from teaching, she has devoted the last eighteen years to painting and exhibiting in many shows and galleries. Her work is in various public and private art collections in the USA, Canada and Europe. She has won numerous awards and continues to devote full-time to her painting passion. Faigee has recently re-established contact with her Tucson AZ galleries and is also represented by The Lloyd Gallery in Penticton BC Canada. |
