A native of Mainland
China, Min Ma was born in 1955 in Jinan. Ever since childhood, his interest
C'est La Vie in art took root. At the age of 18, Min attended the Shandong
Fine Arts college and received formal training for three years. After
that, he continued his studies at the prestigious and highly regarded
China Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou, China and graduated with a Bachelor
of Fine Arts in 1982. He then taught Fine Arts as a professor at a university
level until 1986.
Currently twenty years into his career, Min's works show evidence of
his serious professional commitment to the Fine Arts. His versatility
in art is greatly indicated by the quality of his work. Min's paintings
are vivid, with clarity of color and tone that adds depth and feeling
to his vision. In addition, his subject matter has also been more diverse
in recent years. He has expanded his sphere of artistic interest to
include landscape, still life, floral, portraits, human figures and
many more. Min prefers to use a variety of media such as oil, acrylic,
watercolor and pencil sketches, to bring out different projects and
paintings. His preferred medium is oil.
In 1986, Min came to Canada and has lived in various cities throughout
North America since. During the past ten years, Min's paintings and
sketches have been exhibited throughout Canada and the USA as well as
being represented in numerous private collections.
Min currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta along with his wife who is
also an artist, and their daughter.
