Denis Kleine was born in New Westminster, British Columbia in 1956. After graduating from high school in Nelson, BC, he completed four years of science at the University of Guelph, Ontario and the University of Saskatchewan, in Saskatchewan. In 1983, Denis graduated from David Thompson University Center in Nelson with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in sculpture. Denis has taught sculpture at Arctic College in Iqaluit, NWT., at the Haliburton School of Fine Arts in Haliburton, Ontario and is currently a part time instructor at.the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, BC.

In 1991 and 1993, Denis captained his team-mates to a first place finish in the Provincial Snow Sculpture competition in Vernon, BC. In 1992, Denis was second in the Nationals and placed in the International Snow Sculpture Competition in Quebec City. In 1994, Denis won the Nationals and placed second in the International Snow Sculpture Competition held in Quebec City. He is a former owner of a bronze foundry in Kelowna.

To date, Denis has completed many private and public commissions, mainly in bronze and stone. He is presently an active member of the Sculptor's Society of Canada. Denis Kleine's work can be found in private and corporate collections accross Canada, the USA as well as several other countries throughout the world. He is also exceptionally busy in winter time and internationally acclaimed as one of few featured artists who create highly professional and intricate snow sculptures in winter festivals around the world.
