College in Kelowna, British Columbia Canada, exploring various art mediums
and completing her Visual Arts Diploma in 1993. Annette moved to Victoria,
BC to attend the University of Victoria and there received a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree with Honours.
Annette has taken part in many group exhibitions including several shows at the Lloyd Gallery in Penticton, BC, an installation sculpture show in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in 1998 and a solo multimedia exhibition at the Art Gallery of the South Okanagan in 1998. For the October 2001 show at the Lloyd Gallery, "2 Wines Meet 4 Artists", Annette stated: "I immigrated to the Okanagan Valley from the Netherlands when I was 7, little did I know then that my family had found Shangri-La in the village of Kaleden (Kalos-Eden). The Orchard I picked my first cherries and apricots and apples and pears still bears fruit. Many times my family has wished we still owned those 5 acres of prime grape growing land. For several years I traveled and spent time studying Visual Arts at the University of Victoria graduating with a bachelors degree in Fine Arts majoring in modern sculpture. Then
I resided again in Kaleden with my husband Michael who also found the
Okanagan Valley in his travels from his former country of England. Michael's
passion is wine and thus our passions have met-I have depicted the valleys
industry in my paintings for several years. |
